To use dedicated storage model instead of shared storage, you can connect Netapp E/EF series storage to host directly, without using an SAN switch in between. Considering the high availability, maximum four hosts can be connected to the storage directly at the same time.
In this post, I am using a Fujitsu RX300 server with a NETAPP EF560 storage.
Preferred configuration is to use at least two FC cables, each connected to a seperate controller on the storage ti obtain high availability. As can be seen from the following schema, there is on HBA on the host with two ports. I have made the connection with only one HBA but for high availability purposes it is recommended to use two seperate HBAs for each FC cable.
And in the following, you can find the connection schema for the storage box. Consider each FC channel is using different controllers so that if a controller goes down, with multichannel configuration disks will remain accessible for the operating system.
